Challenge:

Early in their life-cycle, AOL was expanding rapidly and needed a new, redundant data center.  The goal was to perform a national search for a site with a separate power grid, separate sonet ring, well water, limited brown-outs and no physical dangers.

Solution:

Our team sourced multiple vendors and brokerage teams to quickly and simultaneously study multiple markets. The core team evaluated telecom, power, water, financial incentives, etc.  A 25 acre site for the 220,000 sf tech center was purchased in Manassas, VA and new tax regulations/incentives were negotiated with the Virginia State legislature.
