Robert Schap’s core real estate practice over the past 20 years has focused on tenant representation of both regional and national corporations. Mr. Schap’s expertise spans the areas of acquisition and disposition of real property and land (leased and owned), lease restructure/renegotiation and sale-leaseback structures.
Prior to joining Larsen Commercial, Mr. Schap spent the previous 5 years as a Director with Cushman & Wakefield of Virginia. Previously, Mr. Schap spent 6 years a Vice President in the Corporate Tenant Advisory Group of The Trammell Crow Company. He began his sales and marketing career with Xerox Corporation.
Locally, among many other clients, Mr. Schap represented McDonald Bradley, a Pentagon contractor, in its 56,000 sf headquarter relocation; Nx Networks in its 60,000 sf lease restructure; Wright Robinson Osthimer & Tatum in their early renegotiation; and Biotech Research Laboratories in their 37,500 sf relocation.
Nationally, Mr. Schap plays a major role in significant assignments, including a $30 million sale and leaseback of a 275,000 sf U.S. headquarters building in Rochester for ALSTOM SA, and since 1995, many representations of Seagate Technology, in transactions across the country, including an acquisition of 60 acres to consolidate nine buildings on a new 500,000 sf campus facility in Denver and a disposition of 100,000 sf of excess office space in San Jose.
Mr. Schap is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a minor in Business Administration. His civic involvement includes volunteer work such as his commitment as Vice Chairman of the American Cancer Society's Annual National Capital Invitational Golf Tournament.
